Are you tired of looking tired? Weary of someone asking, “what’s wrong,” when you feel fine? Would you like to see a younger, refreshed version of yourself when you look in the mirror? Neuromodulators could be an ideal, nonsurgical solution. Whether you choose treatment at our Westlake, OH or Middleburg Heights office, at Associates in Dermatology you are assured of qualified care from a medically trained professional.
What’s a neuromodulator, Botox, Dysport or Jeuveau?
You are likely familiar with the brand name and think of it as a wrinkle treatment favored by red carpet stars. Yet you may not be aware of many men and women in your own professional or social circles who have also taken advantage of this no-downtime treatment.
Nerve cells in muscle tissue release acetylcholine. This chemical causes muscles to contract in facial expressions such as frowning. Neuromodulator injections, (a type of botulinum toxin Type A), interrupts the release of acetylcholine. As underlying muscles remain relaxed, etched lines and wrinkles in surface skin soften. Improvement is noticeable within a week or two and may last two to four months.
Neuromodulator injections for wrinkles
Neuromodulator face injections are usually administered at points on the forehead to smooth out vertical “elevens,” and horizontal folds, at outer corners of the eyes to treat crow’s feet, and around the mouth for radiating lip lines. However, in the experienced hands of our injectors, the product can be placed in other areas:
- Bunny lines on the nose
- Lift heavy eyebrows
- Improve a gummy smile
- Downturned corners of the mouth and associated marionette lines
- Elevate sagging jowls and neck skin
Are Neuromodulators safe?
Neuromodulators have an excellent record for safety and efficacy, dating back to its FDA approval in 2002. For cosmetic use, neuromodulator side effects are generally mild – slight headache, or redness, itching, or bruising at injection sites. Your provider will talk with you about other potentially serious, though rare, side effects before you decide on treatment.
